Lincoln Park Day | Dedicated to Community Unity
Lincoln Park Day is an annual celebration that is held on the fourth Saturday in September (with a rain date of the next day). The Festival is organized by members of the Lincoln Park Day Association, Inc. with the support of the Borough Council, to promote community unity and co-operation. The event provides the citizens, organizations, and businesses of Lincoln Park an opportunity to show pride in the community, it’s accomplishments and expand public awareness of local resources.
The first Lincoln Park Day was held in 1992 to celebrate the town’s 70th anniversary. Members of the First Aid Squad Auxiliary organized the event, and volunteers from many of the non-profit organizations participated in the event. The Lincoln Park Day Association was started shortly after to make Lincoln Park Day an annual event. The Association was able to continue tradition by coordinating Lincoln Park’s 75th anniversary celebration in April of 1997. It was a three-day event that included a Chapel Hill School Alumni re-union, concerts, a teen dance, historic craft demonstrations, a walking tour, a great parade and fireworks. In January 1998, the L.P.D.A. was proud to recognize Mary Ellen Choate as one of the founders of this annual event Together with her husband, Robert, she provided the positive attitude and commitment to the future that helped Lincoln Park Day become the town-wide celebration it is today.
