Northwest Bird Photography by Ron Green
Ron Green shoots birds just for the fun of it.
Ron has been engaged in professional photography for nearly fifty years He started as a “PIX” freelance news photographer while a teenager in Seattle and later was represented by Franz Furst for editorial photography, and by several worldwide stock photo agencies. Over the years his award-winning work has appeared in hundreds of regional, national and international publications including Life, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, Redbook, Good Housekeeping, Architectural Record, Southern Accents, the New York Times, Nature's Best, Time/Life books and the National Wildlife Magazine.
Recent top awards include those from the Nikon International Photo Competition, the Ivory Bill Photo Contest, and the professional division of the International Spider Awards. Ron was selected as a finalist again for the annual National Wildlife photography competition.
In addition to his architectural assignment work, his personal passion and obsession is photographing native Northwest birds as perfectly and in as much detail as possible for presentation as very large prints. All photographic reproductions are rendered on state-of-the-art archival mediums. Unmounted, mounted and/or framed prints are available at select galleries, museum and nature gift shops, and exhibit venues.
He currently uses Nikon D2 and D3 professional digital cameras and his bird portraits are taken with Nikkor telephoto lenses, often with additional light provided by battery-operated portable studio strobe lights setup in the field. Ron lives in Portland, Oregon and is a member of the North American Nature Photographers Association and the Audubon Society of Portland.
