You must give some time to your fellow man. Even if it’s a little thing, do something for which you get not pay but the privilege of doing it. (Albert Schweitzer) A message from our volunteer coordinator, Monica Hunt:Hello! I am a parent of 3 players here at UFA. I want to take a moment and introduce myself to all of you as the new Volunteer Coordinator. I am very excited about the possibility of working with and getting to know you in the future. We have many events coming up that we need your help with. I would like for you to feel free to call or email me with any questions, or to offer your time. I know that time is a very precious commodity that none of us seem to have enough of. Your time is priceless to UFA. Volunteers make the club a safer and more encouraging environment for our young players. We all spend the time and money investing in our children's passions and we seem to have nothing else to give, but I would like to ask you to consider just 2 hours a week that you could put aside to help ensure that the fields and events have the best possible atmosphere. Maybe on the night you carpool you stay and help fix goals, during Saturday's game you help the club sell spirit wear, or save your hours and volunteer once a month at a fundraiser or tournament. Please look over the needs below and your schedule and see if you can give any of your time. Jamaica Beach Volunteer Fire Department
The Jamaica BeachFire Department was organized in 1976 after a huge brush fire. The beginning
years were punctuated with devotion and sacrifice. The department today continues
to be an all volunteer fire department dedicated to the safety of the citizens of Jamaica Beach.
Most members of the fire department are certified in firefighting. Efforts to further their
education and develop their skills are ongoing.Jamaica Beach organized its first responder
fleet for meeting the emergency medical needs of Jamaica Beach. The volunteers have all
had training in providing emergency medical service, and they work with Galveston EMS
and the University of Texas Medical Branch. Meetings are held at the fire station at 7:00 p.m.
on the first Wednesday of each month.
