Jahi Chikwendiu
Jahi Chikwendiu is an award winning photojournalist and documentary photographer based in the area of Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland. Since 2001, he has been a staff photographer at The Washington Post. Jahi Chikwendiu has covered, among other national and international stories, the coming of age of the 9-11 Marines, the U.S. military effort to train Philippine troops in counter-terrorism tactics, the U.S. military invasion of Iraq (from Kurdistan to Baghdad to Basra), the plight of A.I.D.S. orphans in Kenya, earthquake in Iran, genocide in Darfur, Sudan, war in northern Uganda, war refugees in Egypt and Jordan, and the proposed international ban on the use of cluster bombs that focused on the war between Hezbollah and Israel in South Lebanon. Outside of the Washington Post, Jahi has specialized in documentary wedding photography, environmental portraits, magazine advertisement, commercial corporate and fashion photography.
