What started out as a way to document my vacations has turned
into a passion for photography. My first cameras were film they
were hard to get developed not to mention expensive. When
digital came along that was the best thing ever. That’s when taking
pictures became a passion. Since then I’ve owned many cameras
the most recent a canon 5 d Mark 2. I constantly learn something
new always reading and experimenting with new lenses & views.
Knowing what your camera can do is important but stepping out of
the box and chunking the rules is important and really fun as well.
I let passion dictate and inspire my next shot. This has taught me
to always be looking around the next corner and try to discover
what’s overlooked.
I have been very fortunate to travel to many diverse places
meeting many different people and cultures, but in the end what’s
out the backdoor can be explored the rest of your lives and still not
see it all. Arkansas is a wild and beautiful place and I am fortunate
to live here. The Ouachitas are just amazing, whether it’s a new
stream, another mountain to climb or that undiscovered waterfall.
I don’t think that I am any better than anybody else maybe just more passionate. Photography is a way for me
to get people involved with nature and this great state we live in. I love fishing and kayaking
which is just another extension of photography for me. I’m always
reading and studying on the craft but when I’m in the field I just run
on auto pilot. Generally no hike, cliff, or cave will stop me, just ask
my hiking buddies.
So many people are interested in photography but
are afraid to get out or move away from the auto button on their
camera. So my new venture is to now offer a one on one photography
course. I believe training the eye is the most important thing in
becoming a photographer. By looking at a scene & choosing the most
important part and how one part enhances the other giving you the
feeling of being there.
I try to show with my photography that everything has a
place and that we are niave that we could do a better job than our
Creator.
Photograpy has redirected my destiny in an awesome way.
