Creation And Evolution - A Witness of Prophets
ZionVision is a family owned business dedicated to rebuilding Christian family culture using technology. The leadership of the LDS Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sometimes referred to as the Mormon Church or Mormons, has spoken consistently through the years on the controversial subject of organic evolution. Because this subject is vital to the interests of all Christians, ZionVision has chosen Darwin and his theory of natural selection as its first documentary video project. Many will find interesting what Latter-day prophets and apostles of God as well as the scriptures including the Bible (Old and New Testaments), Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and Doctrine and Covenants have taught regarding modern science and the theories of men, currently promoted as fact through the public and even private schools of the world. Presidents Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, Joseph F. Smith, Heber J. Grant, George Albert Smith, David O. McKay, Joseph Fielding Smith, Harold B. Lee, Spencer W. Kimball, Ezra Taft Benson, Howard W. Hunter, and Gordon B. Hinckley have all spoken on this subject, declaring man to be the literal children of God rather than having descended from lower forms of life. From the 1909 Darwin Celebration, held at Cambridge, to the 1925 Scopes trial, living prophets have clearly and repeatedly spoken. The 1909 First Presidency Message (The Origin of Man) signed by Presidents Joseph F. Smith, Anthon H. Lund, and John R. Winder as well as the 1925 First Presidency Message (Mormon View of Evolution) signed by Presidents Heber J. Grant, Anthony W. Ivins and Charles W. Nibley are official statements made by Church leaders. Additionally, other prophets have proclaimed a God of miracles that is not dependent upon the laws of chance for the Creation. Prophets have testified of the literal Fall, literal dividing of the Continents in the days of Peleg, literal Flood in the days of Noah and a literal Adam and Eve. Prophets have declared that the stories in the scriptural accounts are not figurative, nor are they myths, but actual occurrences on this earth. This means that there was no death on this earth prior to the Fall of Adam, there were no prehistoric humanoids prior to Adam's Fall, animals were created originally in a state without death and blood, this earth is thousands, not billions of years old, and God has a purpose for His Children. We are not an accident in a lonely universe without purpose, plan or hope.
