It’s when I began taking clients in the luxury and fashion industries that I just became energized with ideas. I mean, the psychology behind luxury brands and the aspirations they evoke in consumers is incredibly interesting, and the practical execution of how these brands define themselves within the online space is still so new. We’re seeing the struggle of luxury brands try to figure out how to maintain the exclusivity of their brand while at the same time participation in a medium that is the opposite of exclusive; the web is open 24/7 to all with an internet connection. Fashion and luxury still have so far to come before the industry truly leverages the power of interactive media. Right now, brands are participating, but maybe not in a way that is the most purposeful or meaningful to their audience…or to their brand heritage.
