Ashtanga Yoga Sangha - Yoga in the Tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois
Ashtanga Yoga is a complete system of physical, mental and spiritual training as outlined in the Yoga Korunta of Rishi Vamana and Patanjali Yoga Sutras.
In recent years these practices have been transmitted via the teachings of Sri Ramana Mohan Brahmcharya, Sri T Krishnamacharya and Sri K Pattabhi Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India.
Essential ingredients of Ashtanga Yoga include vinyasa, drishti, bandhas (mula bandha, uddiyana bandha and jalandhara bandha) and pranayamas resulting in internalization of sensory awareness (pratyahara). Internal practices of dharana (concentration), dhyana (meditation) and samadhi (transcendental awareness) result from the former intense (external) practices when combined with the moral and ethical codes of Yama and Niyama.
