Welcome to wellfleetosprey.com, a website featuring images of Wellfleet's most photographed summer residents.
Members of my family have been photographing in and around Wellfleet since the 1920s and I am just the latest link in that chain. The variety of Cape Cod related images in these galleries ranges from historical photos from the camera of my grandfather, Carey E. Melville, to gleanings from my own 40 year career as a freelance photographer.
And, of course, current photographs of the Wellfleet ospreys. Enjoy!

Hello from Napa Valley California.
I've been interested in photography most of my life. I bought my first SLR when I was 18. It was an Asahi Pentax. I had two lenses a 24mm and a 200mm. I later purchased a PentaxME and added a motor drive. I had my own photography business in the mid 1970s and shot photos of homes for over 10 different mortgage and real estate companies. It made me money but wasn't very challenging photography. I had a dark room then and enjoyed printing photos. I also took several photography classes while in college.
I transitioned into digital over 10 years ago with a small Olympus point and shoot. I missed having an SLR and purchased Nikon equipment. I have a D200 and D700. My lenses include a 10-20mm, 28-105mm, and a 80-400mm , and a 2X teleconverter. I use a Nikon SB-600 Speedlight flash. I also have studio lights and backdrops for portrait work.
My daughter danced with the Napa Regional Dance Company for many years. I take many thousands of photos each year of various ballet performances. I love shooting photos of the incredible dancers. I have seen first hand how hard they work and the beautiful dances that they produce.
Another passion is aviation photography. I shoot the air races every September in Reno, Nevada. It's the fastest motor sport on the planet. This will be my 40th year and I'm a pylon judge so I have the best seat in the house. There is nothing like having 8 WWII fighters flying 75' over your head at speeds between 450-500+mph! Check out the pylon judges web site at www.pylonjudge.org.
I also enjoy taking photos of various sporting events. I'm a substitute high school teacher and I enjoy taking photos of the high school sports teams. It's more meaningful to me as I know most of the athletes as they are students of mine.
I am a member of the Calistoga Camera Club which gives me the opportunity to visit with and learn from the photographers in the club. Check us out at www.calistogacameraclub.net.

Welcome to my Photography Web Page.
My name is Stanley Earl Conrad and this is my short biography:
In my early years of grade school my father gave me his ancient Argus 35mm camera and my passion for photography began.
In my college years I attended many photography classes and was introduced to the photography of the great Ansel Adams. His work and techniques have influenced all that I do. I have discovered that patience, dedication, and continuous learning are absolute requirements for a photographic artist. For continuing study and growth I read books, magazines, and use the internet for access to tutorials both in written and in video forms.
I enjoy all phases of the work from taking the photograph to processing the image file, printing, mounting, matting, and framing the finished work.
I use Canon digital single lens reflex equipment. The digital format has freed me from the darkroom and provided a more accurate way to process the "negative". I shoot exclusively in the RAW format. The RAW format is similar to a negative in the film world. No in-camera processing is done. The RAW format requires processing with a software based photo editor for the usual items of exposure, color balance, contrast, and other related procedures.
I reside in Florida during the winter months and Colorado during the summer months. Photography is a passion for me. It is a never ending quest for excellence through experience and knowledge.
Please check in because the galleries will be added to and updated often.
