My name is Hal Davis. My primary photographic interest is to photograph cultures around the globe that are in transition from traditional ways to modernity.I was born in Chicago and educated in Physics at the University of Illinois (BS) and the University of California at San Diego (MS and PhD). I live in Los Alamos, New Mexico where I am retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory having performed and lead teams in experimental plasma and particle beam research. I am married, have a married son and married daughter, and one granddaughter. The photos presented are representative of those taken on trips I have made since retirement in 2005.

Born along the Gulf Coast of Florida, Mike's formal training is in chemical physics (BS from Spring Hill College, PhD from Tulane University, and MBA from Ashland University) , but he started shooting 35mm film Nikons in 1983 and has been an avid lover of photography ever since -- though that's not the day job... His primary focus (no pun intended) is an Information Security and Compliance consulting and managed services company (CynergisTek, Inc.) based out of Austin, Texas that he co-founded with his business partner Mac McMillan. He is also an avid cyclist and typically logs close to 4000 miles a year on the road bike. He's a former professional skydiving instructor (~5000 jumps), FAA licensed Master Rigger, and avid lover of drinking good beer and wine, sports, cooking, and spending time with good friends and family.

As most personal friends and family know, this is a hobby that started out my sophmore year in High School, then turned into my true passion.
