I've been shooting imagery since 1967 when I first went to a NASCAR event at the Daytona 500 with my father who worked for the Ford Motor Company and have shot professionally since 1975.
In that 45 year span, I've spent 24 years of that traveling to quite a few countries around the world as a Military Photojournalist with the U.S. Air Force. Since retiring from active duty in 1989, I've concentrated mainly on Commercial-Industrial, Live Productions & Aerial photography.
If you look at the Industrial area of this site you will see examples of images shot for The Stellar Group and Kajima Construction as well as several other architectural assignments for national home builders. If you look at the Military Aerials you'll see a career of shooting significant aerial images of military aircraft, many of which have long since been retired from service.
I had a unique opportunity to be part of a very small but elite corps of Military Photojournalists who to this very day are out there risking their lives to tell the Department of Defense story to the world. It was something I am forever grateful to have been a part of.
At home, I've been shooting images of the events in the life of First Baptist Church here in Jacksonville, Florida. This has truly been my calling and a way to use the gift God gave to me. I've been shooting their events for as long as I've been retired and truly enjoy "Live Action" photography, especially the production numbers put on by the music department and the annual Pastors' Conferences. I will continue to shoot for them as long as they will allow me to be a part of their ministry. I also have begun documenting the life of a growing church close to our house. Dunns Creek Baptist Church on Jacksonville's Northside is a vibrant and growing church so you will see a building library of their images in the life of our new church. I look forward to the challenge of photographing this new building as well as the life of this truly gem of a church.
As for style, many have commented that they notice I shoot a tremendous amount of Panoramic and High Dynamic Range (HDR) Images. Those are a signature of my work and style. Extremely difficult to accomplish and think to shoot while you are at an event or location and even more difficult to assemble sometimes, I have found the final product almost gives you the feeling you are taking in the scene "live". The challenge when doing them is consistent lighting and exposure and allowing the right amount of overlap so that you can successfully stitch the multiple images (usually about 6-9 shots per scene) together so that you cannot tell they have been assembled. The new version of Adobe Photoshop CS5 helps this process along quite nicely, however, it's not always the answer on more difficult scenes, for those I use Autodesk Stitcher 5.7 software from Realviz.
I hope you enjoy the images and especially the section Jenny & Emily. Those are precious images of my daughter Jennifer and her friend Emily during a vist to Florida some years back. It was a true joy as a father to shoot modeling images for her and even though she didn't pursue that path after graduating college, it was fun to reconnect with her and her friend for those short weeks of their visit.
